Installation

Installed just like steel wire, but with no gloves or injuries

  1. Unroll the spool using a dispenser or inverted pallet (up to 4 rolls at a time).
  2. Tension by 1% of the line length using a pulley or tensioner (1.5 m in 150 m).
  3. Fasten with a knot, gripple, aluminium clamp or nylon hook.

Compatible with standard accessories: Gripple® (Ø 2.6–4 mm), Gripple® Agri (Ø 5 mm), aluminium clamps and direct connection to existing steel wire lines.

Frequently asked questions

We answer your questions

What exactly is AGROPET®?

A high-tenacity PET polyester monofilament (wire), manufactured in Spain by Textil Villa de Pego. It replaces steel wire in any agricultural structure: trellises, greenhouses, drying racks, reservoirs, stakes and fencing.

Which gauge do I need for my crop?

As a general rule: 2.6 mm for stakes and light lines · 3 mm for vineyard trellis · 4 mm for intensive olive groves and orchards · 5 mm for main lines and heavy loads. Call us on 965 571 267 and we'll advise you free of charge.

Can AGROPET® be used as a guy wire for antennas?

Yes, it is an ideal guy wire for TV antennas, masts and poles. Being a dielectric polyester monofilament it is non-conductive (lightning protection), does not interfere with the antenna signal , won't rust or stain the roof and withstands years of sun and rain. For domestic antenna guys we recommend 2.6–3 mm; for tall masts, 4–5 mm.

Does it hold tension like steel wire?

Yes. With an installation tension of 1% of the line length, AGROPET® maintains stable tension from −40 °C to +70 °C, without the thermal expansion of metal. Breaking loads range from 280 kg (2.6 mm) to 616 kg (5 mm).

How long does it last outdoors?

Years without maintenance: the polyester is UV-stabilised and immune to rust, fertilisers, crop protection products and salt-laden air. At the end of its service life it is 100% recyclable.
